How to Make a Homemade Suncatcher With Tissue Paper
- 1). Tear pieces of tissue paper into roughly 3/4-inch pieces. The colors of the tissue paper will depend on the design you wish to use for your suncatcher. Some ideas include a planet, a star, the sun or a fish.
- 2). Draw your desired design onto a sheet of card stock and glue a layer of freezer paper, shiny side-up, to the card stock. Cut out the design once the glue has dried.
- 3). Mix equal parts glue and water in a bowl. Create a collage of tissue paper on top of the cut-out design by dipping pieces of the tissue paper into the glue solution and layering them on top of the design. Overlap several layers of paper on top of each other and cover the entire surface area of the card stock with tissue paper. Allow the glue to dry for 24 hours when finished.
- 4). Peel the tissue paper collage off of the freezer paper once the glue has dried. Trim any rough edges in the design with scissors.
- 5). Punch a hole into the top of the suncatcher with a hole punch. Thread a piece of string through the hole for hanging the finished craft near a window to catch the sun.
