How to Edit a Picture in PaintShop
- 1). Open the PaintShop program and click the "File" tab above the workspace. Select "Open" from the drop-down menu and browse through your hard drive to find the picture you wish to edit. Highlight the digital photo and click "Open."
- 2). Click the "Adjust" tab and select "One Step Photo Fix" to execute a basic photo editing command that will fix items such as brightness and contrast automatically in your photograph. Select "Smart Photo Fix" within the same tab to adjust brightness, saturation and color balance in the photograph. Adjust the slider bars to the left or right as you desire, while previewing the changes you make in the preview pane. When you finish making adjustments, click "OK."
- 3). Adjust the "color," "brightness and contrast" and "hue and saturation" within the "Adjust" tab as well by clicking any of these items within the drop-down menu. Experiment with different settings as you desire until you have an effect you like. Undo any changes you make by clicking the "Undo" button.
- 4). Click the "Skin Smoothing" tool within the "Adjust" tab if you wish to fix blemishes on the skin of people in the photograph. Move the slider bar to the left or right, previewing changes in the preview pane. Click "OK" when you finish.
- 5). Click the "Effects" tab and select "Photo Effects" to experiment with different photo effects. Choose "Sepia Toning," "Black and White Film" or "Infrared Film" to place different special effects on the photograph.
- 6). Click the "Effects" tab and select "Art Media Effects" to try different artistic effects on the photograph. Select "Brush Strokes" to turn the photograph into a painting. Choose "Colored Pencil" to change the photograph into a colored pencil sketch. Select "Pencil" to make the photograph resemble a pencil sketch.
- 7). Select the "Crop" tool above the workspace to crop the photograph. Position your cursor in the photograph, press down the left mouse button and drag the mouse across the photograph diagonally to the right lower corner. Release the mouse button when you come the point where you want the crop to end. Click the green circle above the workspace to execute the crop command.
- 8). Resize the photograph by clicking the "Image" tab and selecting "Resize" from the drop-down menu. Enter the dimensions into the appropriate fields, place a check mark beside "Lock aspect ratio" and click "OK."
- 9). Select "File" and "Save As" to save the changes you make to a photograph. Name the photograph and click "Save."
