Like all botanical life, flower labels are scientifically specific. Names of these flowers consist of two words. The first word, the genus, is capitalized. This signifies the flower's group, and is chosen based on a flower's characteristics and whether they match other flowers of the same genus. The second word denotes the flower's species and essentially narrows down the flower's category. - The flower Barbados pride was discovered in 1657.barbados coast image by Christopher Dodge from Fotolia.com
