How to Register Mime Types
- 1). Click the Windows "Start" button on your web host server. Click "Administrative Tools," then click "Internet Information Services (IIS)." Your web host utility opens.
- 2). Right-click the website you want to edit and select "Properties." A web host properties window opens where you configure each of the preferences for your website.
- 3). Click the "MIME Types" tab. Click "New" to open a dialog box where you register the MIME type. Type the file extension in the first text box. Click "Browse" and click the program used to execute the file. Several existing MIME types exist (see Resources) that you can configure in IIS.
- 4). Click "OK" to save the changes. Click "OK" in the main properties window. Right-click the server name on the left panel and select "Restart." IIS services restart, and the new MIME type is now active.
