How to Get PS2 Slimline

    • 1). Make sure you're getting a regular PS2 slimline model, identifiable by its standard black or white color. In 2005, Sony released a silver special edition slimline PS2 according to GameSpot. Though it looks flashy, the silver model is incapable of playing certain PS2 games, and it is often more expensive because it is a "limited edition" product.

    • 2). Make sure you get the appropriate "format" for your region. If you go to a local electronics store, all the PS2 slimlines on the shelf will be properly formatted. However, if you decide to buy online, be wary of sellers from other countries. The NTSC format is used in North America and will play games commonly found at U.S. and Canada retailers. The PAL format is used in Europe, and only plays games sold there.

    • 3). Look into package deals. Many stores offer discounts when you bundle a PS2 slimline with extra controllers or games.

    • 4). Factor an analog connector into your costs if your TV does not have RCA inputs. Most PS2s come with RCA cables, but you'll need to spend a little bit extra on additional cables if your PC is only analog-ready.

    • 5). Get an extended warranty. Though PS2s are less expensive than competing next-gen consoles, you don't want to have to pay that price again if the system malfunctions.
