    Chipboard Shadow Boxes

    • One craft project you can make out of chipboard is a shadow box. Using two sheets of chipboard, cut each sheet into four equal parts using a hobby knife or a paper cutter. Next, paint or cover the pieces with colored paper or other material. Glue or tape the edges together to form a box. Leave the front of the box open so you can place items inside. Another craft related to this one is to place whatever items you want inside of the shadow box and close the front completely. Next, cut a small hole in the top or one of the sides of the box so you can see the shadow box items inside.

    Chipboard Letters, Numbers and Words

    • Another project for chipboard is to create letters, numbers and even complete words. Using a hobby knife or scissors, pencil and letter/number stencils, trace the letters you want onto the chipboard, then cut them out by hand. To smooth down any rough edges, carefully trim with a pair of scissors. To create a complete word, lay out the word you want to form using the stencils, trace with a maker or pen. Then cut around the outer edges of the word first. Next, cut any openings in the middle of each letter, but keep all the letters connected. Color in the letters of the word to finish.

    Chipboard Shapes and Designs

    • Similar to creating letters, creating shapes and designs easy--just trace whatever shape or design you want using a stencil or draw a design or shape freehand and cut the design out with a knife or scissors. Next, smooth out any rough edges. Paint the pieces and make a color cover with paper or with fabric.

    Making a Chipboard Journal

    • Another craft project you can try using chipboard is making a journal. Cut two pieces of 8 1/2-by-11 inch chipboard into a shape or design. Smooth out any rough edges. Paint or cover the chipboard. Insert colored or lined paper in the middle of the two pieces of chipboard. Using a hole puncher, punch two to four holes on one side of the journal. Then insert snaps or ribbon into the holes to fasten the journal together. You can also glue the pages together and let them dry before opening. Finally, decorate the outside and inside of the journal to your liking.
