How to Lock Cells in OpenOffice

    • 1). Hold down the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard and click the cells you do not want to lock. They will highlight with a blue color.

    • 2). Click the "Format" menu then click "Cells."

    • 3). Navigate to the "Cell Protection" tab.

    • 4). Remove the check box next to the "Protected" option and click "OK." This indicates that these cells will not become locked when you protect the sheet.

    • 5). Click the "Tools" menu, click "Protect Document" and select "Sheet."

    • 6). Type a password for the protected sheet twice then click "OK." All cells on the sheet will become locked except for the cells that you indicated earlier.
