    • 1). Pinpoint all the studs in the wall, using your stud finder. Put a small pencil mark high on the wall for each one.

    • 2). Mark halfway between the first two studs, and drill a hold at that mark, 8 to 10 inches from the top of the wall, using your drill and hole-saw bit. Repeat all along the top of the wall, putting holes between every two marks.

    • 3). Fill your blower with cellulose insulation. Feed the end of the hose into one of the holes, feeding it all the way in until you feel it hit the floor on the inside of the wall. Tuck a small towel around the edge of the hose to block any space where it enters the hole.

    • 4). Start your blower. As it fills the narrow space between the two studs with insulation, listen for a straining noise in the blower motor, which will indicate you must raise up the hose because the end is getting clogged. Raise it gradually, pulling it up out of the hole as it fills the space continue until the end of the hose is at the entrance of the hole. Turn off the machine.

    • 5). Repeat the process for each hole

    • 6). Fill the first hole with spray-in foam insulation, letting the insulation mound out of the hole. When it has started to set, push the edge of a wide drywall knife forward through the foam, cutting it off so it’s flat with the wall. Repeat for each hole. The wall is now ready for repainting.
