How to Put Aspirin in Cut Flowers
- 1). Place a non-coated aspirin tablet between two nested spoons and apply pressure until the pill crumbles. Place the resulting powder in an empty glass.
- 2). Pour warm water into the glass and stir until the aspirin powder has dissolved completely. Allow the water to cool to room temperature.
- 3). Trim the ends of your cut flower stems neatly on a diagonal, using a sharp knife or scissors. Do this underwater in a sink to prevent air bubbles from blocking the plant stems. Remove any leaves that would end up being underneath the water.
- 4). Place the cut flowers in your chosen receptacle and add cold water. Top up the receptacle with the glass of water containing the dissolved aspirin. Place the flowers in a cool, light spot away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources.
- 5). Discard the water every day and replace with fresh cold water and another dissolved aspirin. Recut the flower stems about one inch up every time you replace the water.
