How to Reset the GM Antilock Warning Light

    • 1). Place the vehicle's transmission into first gear (manual) or park (automatic). Apply the parking brake and shut down the engine.

    • 2). Turn the ignition to the "ON" position but do not start the engine. Connect an automotive scan tool to the vehicle's diagnostic data port (underneath the dashboard on the driver's side). Power on the scan tool and allow it to start up.

    • 3). Navigate to the main menu screen on the scan tool. Select "ABS," and then choose "Codes."

    • 4). Select the option to "Clear all current and stored DTCs." DTC stands for "Diagnostic Trouble Code." Wait for the scan tool to clear the codes from the ABS computer.

    • 5). Disconnect the scan tool and start the engine. Confirm that the antilock warning light is no longer on.
