Types of Lily Flowers
- Proclaimed the easiest to grow, Asiatic lilies are among the earliest to bloom as well. The color scheme is among the broadest in Asiatic lilies.
- Martagon lilies are tall and have whorled leaves and lots of little flowers that face downward. These come in a myriad of colors and can also have freckles.
- Hard to find, candidum lilies are hybrid lilies that have a limited color assortment.
- Native North American Lilies have unique bulbs that have jointed scales. When the flowers bloom the petals curve upward and inward creating a balloon like effect.
- Trumpet lilies bloom mid to late season and because of the bloom size require staking.
- Oriental lilies are also known as Stargazers and are among the most difficult to grow. They require shade, mulch and a slightly acidic soil.
