If you want to improve the performance of Windows XP you need to know how to do it.
This will get it to run at optimum efficiency.
Most windows errors are due to errors in the registry or because windows causes errors in the registry.
this is the database that tells windows where programs and hardware are and how to use them.
Here are two of the biggest problems people face and how to fix them.
#1 You may find shutting down Windows XP takes an extremely long time, or it will not shut down at all.
You can try this fix.
Go to Start > Run and then type in regedit and press enter.
This will bring up a screen with your registry on it.
Now find where it says HKey Current User, from there go to the Control Panel and locate AutoendTasks.
Double click this and then you want to change it from 0 to 1.
Reboot your computer and this should have corrected your problem.
#2 Does your computer freeze on you when you are starting it up and go to a blue screen? or does it pause and freeze when you are using it? This is a common problem as well.
If this is happening to you then it is a registry problem as well.
This is usually caused by registry becoming bloated and slowing down windows and registry errors causing windows to crash.
You can edit the registry manually but this is risky if you do not know what you are doing and can prevent windows starting again.
The easy way to fix registry errors is to run a free registry scan.
This will detect all the errors in minutes.
You can then get rid of them all with the click of the mouse.
