Looking For Somewhere to Stay in Central Otago?
If you are in Central Otago stay at the Wedderburn Cottages, they are cute little cottages right on the rail trail itself, and are run by the lovely Duncan family.
They are the most hospitable family and made us feel right at home, and with their knowledge of farming and the surrounding area it really is a must do.
We stayed in the self contained cottages as the lodge accommodation was already booked.
The cottages were perfect for the 3 of us, and had everything we needed, with the feel of a traditional farmstay.
They were clean and tidy, and from our deck we had a wonderful view of the Hawkdun Range, which was just beautiful, it was lovely to sit out there day or night and get back to nature.
There is so much to do and close by; my husband was very pleased the pub was only a 1 minute walk away from the accommodation.
They even have a Historical Pub Tour and who could say no to that.
We went to 6 local pubs in total, some that dated back to over a hundred years ago.
It was most enjoyable and drinks were included, one of their more popular tours I can imagine! With the rail trail on the doorstep, the Wedderburn cottages were the perfect place to stay after a long day, and they even have their very own 9 hole golf course, which is rather challenging! All in all staying at the Wedderburn Cottages was a real treat, and we loved our time visiting Central Otago and we really feel that we got to see the real New Zealand.
