    • 1). Lay both pieces of Formica that you want joined upside down on sawhorses.

    • 2). Dip a small brush into contact cement and paint a light coat of cement on both pieces of Formica and the countertop where they are to be joined. Let the cement dry for 30 minutes.

    • 3). Lay the first piece of Formica in place. Tap around the perimeter of the Formica lightly with a rubber mallet.

    • 4). Hold the other piece of Formica up at a 30-degree angle. Place the edge of the tilted Formica tight against the edge of the Formica that is already in place, maintaining the 30-degree angle.

    • 5). Lower the tilted piece of Formica. As you tilt it down, watch the point where the two pieces are touching, and make adjustments if needed to to keep the two pieces tight together. Continue lowering the tilt until the second piece of Formica is flat in place

    • 6). Tap both pieces of Formica with the rubber mallet along the seam where the splice is. Tap from the inside out removing all slack until the splice is tight and flat. Finish by tapping over the complete surface of both pieces, bonding the cement to the Formica.
