Planning Your Valentine"s Day Escape

Okay, it's almost here.
February 14.
Valentine's Day.
The day women look forward to with eager anticipation, and men scramble around at the last moment looking for something that is appropriately sentimental, sweet, and suggestive (preferably at the same time).
But it doesn't have to be that way.
Let's look at some Valentine's Day ideas guaranteed to knock her off her feet.
FYI: As a guy, I'm primarily directing this to other guys, so if you're a guy reading this, listen up.
If you're a woman, forward it to the man in your life and let's hope he gets a clue.
Let's start out easy.
One of the best suggestions for Valentine's Day requires you to look no further than your TV set, however it does require that you watch a few commercials.
I'm referring to the Pajama -Gram ads.
Women love the idea of being able to relax after a long day, and this ensemble does just that.
You get a choice of the most luxurious pajamas, from the practical to the sexy, bath confetti, a do-not-disturb sign, and a personalized gift card.
You can even call as late as Feb 13 and still have it delivered on time.
Of course there is always the romantic getaway.
And you don't have to make it a cruise or an exotic trip (although I don't know of a woman who would turn it down!).
Find a luxury hotel, with all the right amenities, and precede your arrival with a romantic dinner at a nice restaurant (not one where you order through a clown's head).
Have the room adequately prepared with flowers and wine.
You make up the next act.
Look into romantic photography.
These sessions can be a lot of fun for you and your partner, and offer everything from the basic portrait sessions, to the seductive, playful, or funny.
Let the photos reflect you and your relationship.
A favorite spot that you both enjoy going to can provide the perfect backdrop for such a shoot.
Find their favorite romantic movie and watch it with them.
Make it a complete experience by serving popcorn, chips and dip, etc.
Make sure they know the night is all about them.
Guys, this means that you may have to momentarily check your man card at the door and actually watch a movie where nobody dies and nothing gets blown up.
But the reward will be more than worth it.
Cook dinner for her.
I realize I just lost half the guys with this one ("Say what?") but it isn't as hard as you might think.
Find out what your partner loves and create the night around it.
Maybe create a theme for the night, geared around the kind of meal you are serving.
Hide notes all over the house, reminding them how much you love them.
If you want to make it really interesting, make the notes a scavenger hunt, leading from one location to another.
Of course they are all going to ultimately lead back to you (you do realize that, right? Just checking).
Make her breakfast in bed.
This is a tried and true romantic gesture, one that may make you late for work, so plan on it! Put it in words.
Write down how you first met your partner, your feelings at the time, what was going through your head, memories of your first kiss, etc.
Don't worry if you don't have a "way with words"..
...
sometimes a lack of such can be a most endearing trait.
If you don't like to write, make a scrapbook.
Fill it with cards, pictures, notes, love letters from your past together, whatever seems appropriate.
If you're more the high tech type, forget the scrapbook and make a DVD highlighting your memories together.
Or make a website for her..
..
one with her name in the title...
with memories and videos of the two of you (well, maybe not ALL the videos, but you get the idea!).
Women love coupons, so how about some love coupons? You can give them one that is good for a foot rub, or a candlelight dinner, or as creative/suggestive as you care to get.
But you should also be prepared to pay off when they decide they want to redeem them (don't worry, it won't hurt!).
Make future memories.
Sit down with your partner and come up with a list of the things she would most like to do, then take a weekend and make those memories come true.
It is the season of love, and you are only inhibited by your imagination.
Start planning now to make this Valentine's Day the best one ever.
Now go therefore and sweep her off her feet..
