How to Conjugate Spanish Verbs for Kids
- 1). Separate the verb into the stem and the ending. The stem is the verb itself, while the ending is the last two letters. They can be "ar," "er" or "ir."
- 2). Memorize the appropriate endings for the subjects. When writing the singular form "yo," meaning "I," you drop the original ending and add the new one, which is "o". Using the example "comer," this turns into "Yo como." Tú uses the "as" for verbs ending in "ar" or "es" for verbs ending in "er."
- 3). Drop the ending and add "a" or "e" to the verb when you use "él," "ella" or "usted." Use "amos," "imos" or "emos" for the subject "nosotros," meaning "we." The subject "they" or the formal version of "you" uses "an" or "en" as the ending.
