    • 4). Click the "Effects" menu, then click the "Simulation" sub-menu. Click the "Shatter" command which makes text 3-D as part of its shattering effect. The left pane will display parameters for this effect.

    • 5). Click the "Rendered" item from the "View" row of the "Effect" pane. This action turns the display of the effect from wireframe to a shaded view of the text. This makes the text easier to see.

    • 7). Click the "Camera position" item to display the item's components and drag on the "X rotation" link to increase the rotation of the 3-D text around its X axis. This action will reveal that the text is now in 3-D.

    • 8). Click the "Physics" item, then type "0" in the "Gravity" text box. This prevents the text from falling. Click the "Force 1" item and type "0" for the "Strength" text box. This prevents the text from shattering. Repeat this instruction for the "Force 2" item.

    • 9). Click the stopwatch icon at the left of the "X rotation" item. This sets a keyframe for the animation. Drag the vertical bar in the "Timeline" window to frame 40 and drag across the number link next to the "X rotation" item. This rotates the text for your animation.
