So, once you have a glaze that you are happy with and you are ready to make a full-sized batch. I like to make 20-25,000 grams usually. In this case, I am going to make 15,000 grams because I will have some of the glaze that I am making left over and I will be mixing them together. But first, you want to get a large bucket. This holds ten gallons, which is appropriate for about a 20-25,000 gram batch of glaze. So, you want to put about a third of the bucket of water if you are making a full batch. A little bit less if you are making 15,000 like I am today. So, that is prepared and that is where we will be transferring the ingredients. Now in this case, my Gorsley Borate for this recipe is 30 percent, so it is going to be 45,000 grams. Now, I can't do that on my small triple beam scale in one measurement, so I have got to split it up. But first of all, when you are doing more than what shows on your balance, you are going to need additional weights. This one is a thousand grams or one kilogram and it just hangs right on the edge and I have got another one thousand gram weight and I will hang that on the other side. I have still got my 62 and a half on the main part of the balance, so now when I measure this out, it is going to level out at exactly 2,000 grams of material. So then I will need another 2,500 grams. So, I will do 2,000 again and then 500. Now, when you are having to split ingredients up, it is important to keep a list of how many times you used what amounts of materials so that you are sure you have got the exact amount that the recipe calls for. I have already showed you how to measure, so I am going to go ahead and measure out the ingredients for this recipe and then I will show you how to deal with mixing, civing, and hydro metering a large batch of glaze.
