How to Connect a Home Theater System to HDTV
- 1). Disconnect the HDTV and home theater receiver power plugs from the electrical socket.
- 2). Hook up a video cable to a compatible output on the back of your home theater receiver. The labeled HDMI port has six sides. If you are using a component video cable, connect the plugs to the red, green and blue outputs on the receiver.
- 3). Attach the other end of the cable to a video input on the HDTV. Some sets have ports on the side of the cabinet as well as the back, so use a connection point that's convenient to your setup.
- 4). Plug in the power cords for the HDTV and receiver, then turn on both devices.
- 5). Set the receiver's output to the jack connection for the HDTV. Simply dial the selector knob on the receiver's front panel; for example, "Video 2."
- 6). Connect the TV input with the home theater receiver by pressing the TV/video input button on the HDTV remote control.
