How to Do an Overlap in Crochet
- 1). Chain two stitches at the end of your last row and turn your work.
- 2). Lay the piece you wish to overlap on top of the piece from which your working yarn is coming.
- 3). Bring the crochet hook, the chain and the working yarn out to the right side of your work. Insert the hook over the top piece of the crocheted piece and into the first stitch of the row you want to overlap.
- 4). Insert the hook into the first stitch on the top row of the bottom piece of crochet. The hook should stick out the back.
- 5). Wrap your hook once and pull the wrap through every loop on your hook, just as you would if you were making a slip stitch.
- 6). Continue working across the row, making one slip stitch through both layers of crochet for each stitch.
- 7). Break or cut the the yarn at the end of the row and pull it through the last loop on the hook to make a knot.
