How to Condition a Cricut Mat
- 1). Place a cotton cloth, such as a T-shirt, on a new Cricut mat. Press the fabric onto the sticky surface of the mat. Slowly pull the cloth off the mat.
- 2). Use card stock the first few times you put a new mat through a Cricut machine. Avoid thin papers that may adhere to a sticky mat.
- 3). Reserve your new mat for use with heavy papers. Allow the surface of the mat to continue to condition with use.
- 1). Wash your mat with mild soap and water to remove built-up paper residue. Allow your mat to dry.
- 2). Gently scrape the surface of the mat with a putty knife. Brush the mat off.
- 3). Tape the border of your mat with masking tape. Spray your mat with quilter's spray. Remove the tape.
