  OCX (OLE Control Extension) is an independent control program component accessed by other programs in a Windows environment. The OCX controls are Microsoft's second generation of control architecture, with the first being the VBX controls written in the programming tool Visual Basic. However, ActiveX has replaced OCX; it is a backwards compatible program to OCX controls. OCX allows interactive content to exist on a program.
