How to Set a Transparency in Photoshop Elements
- 1). Click on the "File" menu at the top left corner of the screen and select "Open."
- 2). Navigate to the directory on your computer containing the image you wish add a transparency to. Highlight the file name and click "Open."
- 3). Select "Mode" from the "Image" menu at the top of the screen. Select "RBG Color" from the "Mode" menu that appears.
- 4). Select "New" from the "Layer" menu. Click "Layer" within the menu that appears. A dialog box titled "New" will appear. Check the "Transparent" option within the section titled "Contents" and click "OK." Doing so will add a new, transparent layer "above" your image.
- 5). Click on the "Layers" tab within the Editor. Click on the blank box next to the layer containing your image; this is the layer that has a thumbnail of your image next to it. By selecting the image layer, you are moving it "above" the transparent layer.
- 6). Click on the Magic Wand tool and use it to trace around the area you want to make transparent. Press the "Delete" key. A gray and white checkered background, which the program uses to designate transparent areas, will replace all color and graphics within the area you selected.
- 7). Click "Save" to confirm your changes.
