Removing CD Scratches With Toothpaste
- Prepare the CD by first rinsing it in cool water and removing any oil, dirt or fingerprints. Use a soft, non-abrasive cloth to wipe away the dirt and oil. Leave the CD wet after cleaning.
- Put a dab of toothpaste on either a damp cotton ball or a very soft, non-abrasive cloth. Rub the toothpaste on the CD in a large circular motion, following the edge of the CD and working your way inward. Rub gently, but firmly, buffing the CD with the toothpaste.
- After buffing, rinse away the toothpaste. Be sure that the toothpaste is completely removed. Any residue or remaining particles will cause problems when playing the CD. When the CD is completely rinsed off, dry it thoroughly with a soft, non-abrasive cloth. Don't let the CD air dry as water spots may develop, but also be sure it is completely dry before putting it into the player.
