How to Repair and Paint Motorcycle Plastics

    • 1). Remove the plastic parts from the motorcycle according to the the specific motorcycle. Lay the plastic parts on a clean surface. Sand the plastic part using the 85-grit sandpaper. Remove all of the scratches, scuffs, cuts and any other debris that may be embedded in the plastic.

    • 2). Wet a cloth with gas, and wipe the plastic part down. Remove all of the dust from the surface of the parts. The gas will remove any oils and debris that are on the parts.

    • 3). Sand the plastic part using the 130-grit sandpaper. Sand the plastic part until the part is completely smooth. Wipe the part down, using the cloth wet with gas to clean the part.

    • 4). Apply two coats of the primer to the plastic part. Allow the fist coat of primer to dry for about two hours before you apply the second coat. Allow the second coat to completely dry for about four hours in a clean, dry place.

    • 5). Apply at least four coats of the spray paint to the plastic part. Allow each coat of paint to dry for about an hour. Once the last coat of paint has been applied, allow the paint to dry over night in a clean, dry place.
