    Car Wash

    • A car was is a simple and effective type of fundraiser. The costs of putting on a car wash are limited to water, soap, hoses, sponges and shammies. Parents of team members may be willing to provide some or all of the equipment needed. School parking can be used to put on car washes. If you live in a region with a cold climate, car washes may not be viable until mid to late spring or early in the fall.

    Lift-a-Thon

    • A lift-a-thon is similar in concept to a walk-a-thon or read-a-thon except participants earn pledge money by performing lifting activities in a weight room rather than walking or reading. Team members are tasked with getting family members and friends to sign a pledge form, agreeing to pay the participant a certain amount per pound lifted or exercise performed at the lift-a-thon. For instance, you could have a lift-a-thon where the each wrestler's bench press, squat and deadlift are added together to calculate the total amount of weight lifted. Wrestlers should explain the rules of the lift-a-thon to those making pledges in detail so they can make an appropriate pledge.

    Concession Stand

    • Running a concession stand at home meets and tournaments can be a helpful way to raise funds for a wrestling team. Soda, candy, bottled water, hot dogs and popcorn are a few types of concessions that can be profitable. It is especially important to run a concession stand if your team hosts a tournament. Wrestling tournaments can last eight hours or longer with significant downtime offering many opportunities to sell concessions to spectators and the members of visiting teams.

    Fair Stands

    • Many schools have school fairs that allow extracurricular groups to set up stands to attract interest or raise money. Setting up a wrestling booth or activity at a fair can raise money for a wrestling team. Possible fair activities include a wrestling booth, a sumo wrestling ring -- with or without sumo suits -- and a weight-guessing booth.
