How to Use a Bonsai Display Stand

    • 1). Set the display stand in a location where its placement provides ample sunlight for the bonsai plant to flourish. A stand set near a window or illuminated by a grow light provides the light exposure necessary for plant health.

    • 2). Rotate the bonsai so that its front view, or most attractive aspect, is visible to the room's occupants. The display stand serves as a platform, presenting the bonsai at its most visually attractive angles.

    • 3). Locate the display stand where it will keep the bonsai out of harm's way. Keep the stand and plant away from heating and cooling vents that can cause the soil to dry too quickly. The stand should sit firmly on the floor or a flat surface where it will not wobble or tip the bonsai pot.

    • 4). Select a stand that complements the style of the bonsai. Cascading forms of bonsai are attractive on tall display stands, while upright and clumping forms are suitable for shorter stands. A simple style of bonsai may be placed on an ornate stand, but more complex forms of bonsai with multiple branches are better suited to sleek, streamlined display stand design.

    • 5). Create an interior design statement when you select a bonsai display stand that coordinates with the room's style and color scheme. A black lacquer finish blends with Asian-influenced design. Polished natural wood and inlaid designs are suited for a room with traditional furnishings and a steel or brushed nickel stand goes well with contemporary decorating.
