Curling Ornamental Grass
- Frosted or frosty curls sedge (Carex albula Frosted Curls) is a native ornamental grass from Europe, North Africa and New Zealand. The grass is hardy in U.S. Department of Agriculture zones 6 to 9.
- Soft-textured frosted curls sedge has a dense compact growth with a mature height of 6 to 12 inches. The mint colored foliage with white tips has a frosted appearance, curling and twisting as it grows. Frosted curls produce cylindrical, green flower spikes between early and late summer.
- Plant the grass in areas of full to partial sun and in a moderately moist soil for best growth. Water regularly and remove every weed in regions with hot summers. Frosted curls also adapts well to very wet ground and is deer resistant. The curling ornamental grass has a slow growth rate.
