How to Paint the Ceiling the Same Color As the Walls

    • 1). Make certain that you have enough paint to cover both the walls and ceiling. If not, have your paint color-matched and duplicated before beginning the painting process.

    • 2). Using painter's tape, mask off a border on the ceiling about two strips thick so that any wall paint doesn't get on the ceiling. This will keep blobs and drips from forming on the ceiling while painting the walls.

    • 3). Paint the walls in their entirety.

    • 4). When the wall paint has dried completely, remove the painter's tape from the ceiling. Mask off the edge of the wall just below the point where the new wall paint stops. This will make certain that you don't end up with a line of old paint around the border of the room.

    • 5). Paint the ceiling thoroughly. When the ceiling paint has dried, remove the painter's tape on the wall and inspect the meeting point of the wall and ceiling. So long as there are no drips or collected paint on the corner, you're done. Enjoy your newly painted room.
