With a Wild West theme, Frontier City is Oklahoma City's premiere amusement park. It originally opened in 1958, utilizing the western town created for the Oklahoma State Fair, and quickly became a top city attraction.

Owned and operated by Six Flags Theme Parks, Inc. before being sold in early 2007 to CNL Lifestyle Properties, Frontier City will be managed by former owners Kieran Burke and Gary Story beginning in 2011.

The park boasts roller-coasters, other thrill rides, children's rides, games, concerts and more.

Location:

Frontier City is located in northeast Oklahoma City along I-35, between Hefner Road and NE 122 Street. After exiting I-35, get on N I-35 Service Road.

Hours of Operation:

The Frontier City season begins April 11, 2015. Hours vary by day and time of year, so you should always call guest services at (405) 478-2140 or check the website to confirm. In general, beginning in June, the park is open from 10:30am-9pm on weekdays for the summer season. The park is open on Saturdays until 11pm, sometimes 10pm, but it doesn't open until noon and closes at 8pm on most Sundays.

Admission:

Note: The following information is correct as of April 2015, but Admission and Season Pass Prices change throughout the year.

If purchased online, general admission to the park is $28.99 per person for everyone 48 inches or taller, $26.99 for those under 48 inches.

Children 2 and under are free. Parking is $8.

Season Passes:

A Frontier City season pass is a Double Park Season Pass, meaning it allows entrance to Frontier City and White Water Bay. Passes are available for $69.99 and can be purchased online. In addition, season parking passes are available for $29.99.

Ride and Attractions:

Frontier City has a number of rides for the adults and for the kids. If you're seeking thrills, try:
  • Mindbender: 51-foot-high roller-coaster with swirling action of a swinging pendulum
  • Tomahawk: Swing ride that will vault you 80 feet into the air
  • Silver Bullet: Steel roller-coaster that reaches 45 mph
  • Wildcat: Classic wooden roller-coaster
  • Renegade Rapids: 8-person family boat ride
  • Steel Lasso: Debuting in the summer of 2008, the 50th anniversary of the park, the 965-foot custom-built suspended coaster travels 30 miles per hour.
     

If you're looking for something tamer or for the kids, consider:
  • Rio Grande: Children's train ride
  • O.K. Kids Corral: 2-story attraction area
  • Bumper Boats: Crash derby on water
  • Ferris Wheel: Classic ride with a great view of the park

2012 brought the $1.3 million, five-story Wild West Water Works attraction, a structure with 198 entry points, 8 slides, a 1,000 gallon tipping bucket, lounging deck, changing facilities, showers and more.

 

To Eat or Buy:

Frontier City offers several food options from the burgers of the Saddlerock Cafe to tex-mex favorites, BBQ, pizza and sweets.

Rules:

Frontier City does not allow outside food and drinks, offensive clothing or smoking. All park visitors are required to wear a shirt and shoes, and there is no running on the grounds.
