How to Make Fake Scars and Cuts?

    • 1). Cut pieces of toilet paper into small 2-inch squares. You will use the toilet paper to form the three-dimensional scar tissue. Cut about 10 to 20 pieces for each scar or cut you want to create.

    • 2). Peel apart the toilet paper squares so they are one single layer.

    • 3). Make fake blood by adding 1/2 tsp. of petroleum jelly and a few drops of red food coloring to a bowl. Make sure the bowl is not porous so it does not absorb the food coloring. Stir with a toothpick to mix.

    • 4). Add a dab of powdered cocoa to the blood mixture, a small amount at a time, to darken the blood. You will want scars to have a dried blood appearance, so add more cocoa to the mixture. For fresh cuts, use less cocoa for a brighter red color.

    • 5). Create fake scars by spreading the fake blood mix onto a toilet paper square using a craft paintbrush, and then stick the square on your skin. Use the edge of the brush to push and crumple the edges of the squares so they have a jagged appearance. The jagged edges will give more of a realistic appearance. Layer the squares in a haphazard pattern, overlapping them and making jagged edges, to create a three-dimensional scar.

    • 6). Dab the craft paintbrush into cocoa powder, and dab the powder along the edges of the fake scar to give it a dark, bruised effect.

    • 7). Create fake cuts in the same way as the fake scars, by layering the squares onto the skin. Then use a toothpick to create an indentation to appear like a cut in the skin, down the center of the scar you created. Make the indentation look jagged and uneven. Pull some of the wet paper away from the indentation to create a mounded effect, making the edges look rough.

    • 8). Allow drying for about 30 minutes. The scars and cuts will dry and become crusty, which will add to the realistic effect.
