How to Make a Solid Pyramid
- 1). Use a ruler to draw a pyramid's square base and three equal triangular faces on paper. Add tabs to the drawing--flaps for gluing the pyramid together. For example, make each side of each triangle 6 inches long. Alternatively, print the model pattern from the University of California at Los Angeles' Math website (See Resources).
- 2). Cut the pyramid pattern from the sheet of paper.
- 3). Fold the pyramid at the lines on the pattern. Fold the tabs--the small flaps that extend beyond the pyramid's triangles. These flaps hold the paper craft model together.
- 4). Glue the tabs. Glue sticks offer a mess-free method to make the solid pyramid model. Remove the glue stick's cap and turn the knob on its base to extend the glue. Rub the tip of the glue stick on one tab at a time.
- 5). Hold the folded pyramid with one hand. Raise the triangle with the glue-covered tab into position. Push the glue-covered tab against the matching tab of the triangle pyramid face next to it. Repeat with each pair of tabs.
- 6). Stand the solid pyramid model on the square base. The completed model shows three triangular faces.
