How to Cut the Hood Off a Sweatshirt
- 1). Turn the sweatshirt inside out and lay it on an even flat surface with the back of the sweatshirt facing up. Mark a curved line just below the connecting seam of the hood and the sweatshirt using a fabric marker. Do not make a straight, blunt line, which will create a choppy look on the finished sweater. Mimic the round curve of the front of the neckline to create a circular look.
- 2). Cut along the marked curve, carefully avoiding cutting through both layers of cloth. Cut only from the top of the shoulder and along the back, and do not cut into the front of the sweatshirt.
- 3). Fold back about 1/4 inch of fabric along the newly cut curve and pin in place with the sweatshirt still inside out. Sew along the pins using a 3/8-inch seam allowance. Remove the pins. Turn the sweatshirt right side out.
