How to Build a Ladder Base Platform
- 1). Purchase a ladder or use one already available to you. Wooden, metal or fiberglass ladders are all suitable. Purchase plywood and other necessary materials for the base.
- 2). Cut the 2-by-4 lumber into the appropriate sized pieces to make a 2-by-2 foot square. Cut the plywood to the appropriate size to fit over the box. Square off the corners and stabilize the structure with clamps. Screw the corners together; then screw the plywood on top to secure the base. Faster an additonal 2-foot piece of 2-by-4 with wood screws about 6 inches in from any end on top of the plywood.
- 3). Place the framed platform onto a solid, stable surface along a building foundation. Lean the ladder onto a wall and allow the ladder feet to securely rest on top of the plywood, making sure the wall and the ladder base are separated by at least 1/4 the height of the ladder. The ladder footing should rest tightly against the secured non-slip 2-by-4 screwed to the top side of the plywood.
