How to Make a Shadowbox Display
- 1). Remove the back of the shadowbox and measure the width and the length. Add 2 inches to the circumference of this measurement and cut a corresponding square out of your choice of remnant material.
- 2). Glue the material to the front side of the back with crafters glue and smooth out any wrinkles. Secure the extra material around the edges with a hot glue gun.
- 3). Lay out the items you want displayed on the newly covered backing. Start with any flat items, such as pictures, doilies or printed announcements. Add the three-dimensional items from there. Play around with the placement depending on how many items you have. You want it to look attractive, not crowded.
- 4). Lift the items carefully from their final spots and glue them into place with craft glue or a hot glue gun. Use double-sided, Velcro tape on items that are heavier or that you don't want to permanently damage with glue.
- 5). Allow the glue to dry completely and insert the back into the shadowbox frame. Secure the tabs on back and lift the the shadowbox up gently to make sure that everything inside is fastened securely. Hang your shadowbox in a dry place that is out of direct sunlight.
