How to Back Up Third-Party Applications on a BlackBerry
- 1). Start the BlackBerry Desktop Manager on your computer. (If you don't already have this free program that came with your BlackBerry purchase, you can download it from the BlackBerry manufacturer website; see Resources below) Connect your booted BlackBerry phone to your computer using the USB cable.
- 2). Click the Switch Device Wizard icon on the main menu of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. When you get to the next screen, click "Switch BlackBerry Devices." If your BlackBerry phone is already connected, the BlackBerry Desktop Manager will automatically recognize its PIN code. Click "Next."
- 3). Check "Third Party Applications" on the next screen. If you also want to back up your other files, user data or messages, you can also check the boxes next to them. Otherwise, you should leave those boxes blank. Click "Next." The backup process will now start. When it stops, don't touch anything on the BlackBerry Desktop Manager screen.
- 4). Locate the backup file that you just saved in your computer's files. You can do this by going to the Start menu and imputing your BlackBerry PIN code in the search box. Copy the file to another location, such as your documents or desktop folder. You may also consider renaming the folder so you can find it easily.
- 5). Go back to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and click "Cancel."
