    iTunes

    • 1). Insert the CD into your computer's CD or DVD-ROM drive.

    • 2). Launch iTunes and wait for the CD name to appear in the left pane. Click the CD.

    • 3). Check the songs that you wish to rip and click "Import CD." Depending on the number and length of the songs and the speed of your drive, this process could take some time. If you use iTunes to manage your iPod, these songs will automatically appear in your "Music" list and will sync the next time you connect.

    • 4). Launch the program that you use to manage your MP3 player, if it is other than iTunes. Open your iTunes folder from "My Music" and locate the songs you just imported. Highlight the files and drag them into your library for syncing. You may also open the "File" menu and choose an option to add one or more files to your library.

    • 5). Connect your MP3 player to your computer and sync as normal.

    Windows Media Player

    • 1). Insert the CD into your computer's optical drive and launch Windows Media Player.

    • 2). Click the name of your CD in the media pane of Windows Media Player.

    • 3). Click the "Rip CD" button from the top of Windows Media Player and allow for the ripping process to continue, which can take several minutes.

    • 4). Open the program that you use to manage your MP3 player and add the ripped files to your library using the normal method. Windows Media Player saves ripped files to your "My Music" folder or "Music" library by default.

    • 5). Connect your MP3 player to your computer (usually this requires a USB cable) and sync the songs to your device once your computer recognizes it.

    WinAmp

    • 1). Open WinAmp on your computer from the desktop, dock or Start menu and open your media library.

    • 2). Insert your CD into your computer's optical disc drive and click "Audio CD" from the left pane of the Media Library within WinAmp. The program will attempt to automatically import data about your CD from a database.

    • 3). Click the "Rip" button from the bottom of the right pane in the Media Library and choose "Rip All Tracks" to copy the entire CD. If you simply wish to rip several files, click on the tracks while holding "Control" to select multiple files, click the "Rip" button and choose "Rip Selected Tracks." If you are using a free version of WinAmp, you will see an alert asking if you want to upgrade. Click "Rip" to continue with the process and allow WinAmp to rip your songs.

    • 4). Open the program that manages your MP3 player; this may also be WinAmp. For example, you can right-click files in your media library and select "Send to iPod" if you manage your iPod with WinAmp.

    • 5). Add your files to your media library by dragging and dropping or clicking the appropriate button. When searching for the files on your computer, navigate to "Music" or "My Music," unless you have specified a different destination for your ripped songs. Sync your MP3 player per usual.
