    • 1). Tear small strips (approximately 1 inch by 2 inch) of various designs of wrapping paper. Be creative with your wrapping paper choices. For example, you might use a combination of striped, dotted and solid wrapping paper, or two or three styles of Christmas gift wrap.

    • 2). Pour 1/2 cup school glue and 1/4 cup water into a bowl. Mix well.

    • 3). Dip a paintbrush into the glue mixture. Paint a thin layer of the mixture all over the outside of the papier-mache box and lid.

    • 4). Immediately begin applying the strips of wrapping paper to the box and lid. As you work, gently press each piece of paper to eliminate any bubbles.

    • 5). Paint another thin layer of the glue mixture directly over the strips of paper. Allow to dry overnight.

    • 6). Paint the wooden knob with craft paint. Allow to dry. Use a sharp object to punch a small hole in the center of the lid. Push the screw through the hole, making sure the sharp point of the screw is sticking up through the hole. Twist the knob tightly onto the screw.

    • 7). Hot glue four gold-plated beads to the inside of the papier-mache jewelry box. Glue two on one side and two on the other, spaced about 2 inches apart and about an inch from the top. Allow the glue to harden completely before hanging necklaces on them.
