How to Make Liquid Scent for Trout
- 1). Measure 8 oz. of cod liver oil in a measuring cup. Pour the measured oil into a container that has a tight-fitting lid.
- 2). Measure and add 1 tbsp. of garlic powder to the oil in the container. Add 1 tbsp. of table salt to the oil and garlic powder. Mix the ingredients thoroughly with a spoon.
- 3). Add five to seven drops of anise oil to the mixture. Add more or less anise oil based on personal preference, as the oil has a strong licorice aroma and a little goes a long way.
- 4). Seal the container tightly and store it in a cool location until you are ready to use it. Shake the container before opening it to mix the ingredients.
- 5). Dip dough balls, in-line spinners, spoons and jigs in the scent before casting to entice trout to strike at the lure when it's in the water.
