SHIMANO CALAIS DC

For the nth time, Shimano has again proven to us that no matter how pricey its fishing reels are for over $500, it's the bomb in the digital control fishing reels! This is what we have been waiting for. This new Shimano Calais DC (Digital Control) has definitely proven itself to be worthy of all praises and attention it's getting from the world of fishing. Isn't fishing life so wonderful?

When other digitally- controlled reels were released in the market, I didn't bother much since they were so costly and I thought it might not be worth the price I'll be paying. Boy was I all wrong. However, I was secretly hoping Shimano would innovate and create something that could surpass everything that's been out for sale. The whole Shimano Calais team was silent for about a year and a half or so, so I was thinking they might just release it by around late 2009 or probably early 2010. So I thought I could still save up for it. But when the Shimano Calais DC Digital Control Baitcasting Reels were launched, I just had to get my hands on one of them immediately. There was no stopping me. I immediately took my credit card and purchased it online. So I specifically bought the Shimano Calais 200DC. I might be an impulsive buyer, but I don't-and will never- regret buying this at all.

I'm no expert in fishing and in casting the reel. But when I tossed the rod out there, nothing was getting on my way. It was smooth, it was accurate and the best part was that I was able to cast it long distance without any problem at all. I don't have any issues with backlashes in whatever aspect. It was quite windy when I first went out fishing with my Shimano Calais but I didn't have to worry about it. I was the envy of my friends. Everyone wanted to try my new Shimano Calais DC. And of course, I had to lend them my new reel just to make them see that the amount I spent on it doesn't matter because of how well it performed.

The Shimano Calais DC has 4 modes built- in with it. A Mode (Accuracy) which continues to brake during all portions of the cast; the X Mode (Extreme Distance) which you can use if you want your lure to go really far which also allows for more than 50,000 RPM.; the L Mode (Long Distance) for less effort and fewer backlashes; and the W Mode (Wind Mode) which constantly updates the brake force. This reel is available in the high speed ratio of 7.0:1. Even if you're a novice in the fishing world, you don't have to worry about handling a reel, tossing it to the water and catching a largemouth or smallmouth bass.

One thing I also love about this Shimano Calais Baitcaster is that it has a high speed gearing which can exceed 30,000 RPM on the cast (50,000 RPM on X Mode). That's about 80-85% more rotations than the other cast control systems. Even with this rotation, I haven't experienced any tangling of lines. They don't get caught up with each other.

Speaking of this great product, the Shimano Calais DC has a 4x8 digital control, way better than the others in the market. The new technology uses a Magnumlite Spool which feels great and comfortable to the palm. Together with its super stopper feature is its assist stopper. If you love fishing in Saltwater, this is definitely the one for you. The Shimano Calais DC is approved to be use in Saltwater. The metal plate finish makes the reel look irresistible. The greaseless spool support bearings make it awesome. Imagine not applying grease to your reel, you don't have to deal with the oily feeling left by some residual grease everytime you lubricate your reel.

What are you waiting for? Go grab your own. This Shimano Calais DC is the best catch out there.
