How to Install Bell South DSL
- 1). Call BellSouth and ask the representative to activate your telephone line in preparation for installing your DSL modem. Pick up a phone connected to the phone line and make sure there is a dial tone.
- 2). Place the BellSouth Fast Access CD into your disc drive and follow the instructions on the screen to install the necessary Internet software. Remove the disc when installation is complete.
- 3). Connect a phone filter to all phone jacks in your home, including the jack you will use to connect your modem. The phone filter lets people talk on the phone while someone uses the Internet.
- 4). Place the SpeedStream CD into your disc drive and follow the instructions on the screen to install the modem software. Restart your PC when prompted.
- 5). Insert a phone line into the phone jack nearest to your modem that says "ADSL HPN." Insert the other end of the phone line into the phone line jack on your BellSouth DSL modem.
- 6). Connect the modem to the PC with the USB cable.
- 7). Plug in the modem's power adapter and insert the other end into an outlet. Your computer will automatically recognize the new hardware in a few seconds.
- 8). Follow the instructions on your computer screen to finish installation.
