Martini & Rossi Asti Mousseux
Martini & Rossi Asti Mousseux made my Best Bubbly Under $20 list for a reason. Below features two descriptions: one by the Société des Alcools du Québec -- the provincial crown corporation that regulates the distribution of alcohol in Quebec and by extension, Montreal -- and another in the form of user-friendly insight courtesy of yours truly.
SAQ Description: "This sweet straw yellow sparkling wine features intense floral and fruity scents and offers fine and non persistent bubbles.
Discover this medium-bodied sparkling wine expressing refreshing acidity and offering a broad texture. Food pairings: fresh fruit, white fruit mousse, fruit salad."
In English: Okay. Connoisseurs reading this are about to slap me for even adding Martini & Rossi's Muscat grape quasi-syrup to the list. But hey, not everybody likes dry. And not everybody like wine. Which is Martini & Rossi's entire point. I think. With apple, pear and peach accents, it tastes like juice, bubbly juice but heavier, more dense. It's like drinking carbonated Cinzano. Or something.
