    • 1). Lay the Topsy Turvy bag on its side and insert the plant's roots through the small round hole in the bottom of the bag. Push the plant through until only the top three or four inches of it are still outside of the bag.

    • 2). Locate the split plug and note where the slit is located. The slit goes from the edge of one side all the way to the center of the plug.

    • 3). Insert the plug into the top of the Topsy Turvy and push it down until it's flush with the bottom round hole.

    • 4). Hold open the plug with your fingers and slide the slit over the plant's stem to hold it in place.

    • 5). Mix 3 tablespoons of granular fertilizer into one or two pounds of potting soil and pour the mixture into the top of the Topsy Turvy to hold both the plug and the plant roots in place. If you have an herb planter, add the soil a little at a time and plant the herbs in each side hole as you reach them.
