If you are planning to stay or holiday in Buenos Aires, you will find really comfortable luxury hotels and luxury apartments where you can establish yourself, and use this city as a launching point for sight seeing trips to the wonderful surrounding countryside, towns and cities nearby.
One of the more popular day trips is to the Parana River Delta.
You can choose tours with or without lunch.
There are cars and buses available but the most liked trip is the one taken on the Tren de la Costa or Riverside Train, along the beautiful coastline.
The stop at San Isidro will give you an opportunity to do some shopping.
The train then takes you to Tigre in the heart of the Delta.
Here are various boat trips on the rivers and channels, ferries to the islands, the Isla Martin Garcia, the old prison camp, and the citadel as well as water sports, and fishing.
An easy day trip is to take a ferry across the Rio de la Plata [translated: 'The River of Silver'] to Uruguay, to the charming Portuguese town of Colonia del Sacramento.
This delightful little cobbled town with beautiful old colonial buildings and a definite Portuguese culture and flavour.
It is the oldest town in Uruguay and really worth a visit.
Its historic quarter the 'Barrio Historico' is a World Heritage Site.
There are restaurants and hotels where you can have lunch, and guided trips to show you around.
You can also just wander around on your own absorbing the atmosphere.
Remember that it is in a different country, so don't forget your passport.
If you are interested in a delightful change away from the city lights, try a weekend at an estancia.
Within easy reach you should be able to find estancias that take guests and give them a taste of traditional estancia life.
The estancia is the Argentinean equivalent of a cattle ranch.
The gauchos are the 'cowboys' and cattle and horses are very much part of their life and culture.
Some of these estancias date back one or even two centuries, and the guest houses are often French, Spanish or American colonial style mansions that have been beautifully restored and converted for paying guests.
They still continue their cattle ranching businesses and the guests are invited to take part.
If you enjoy horse riding, you will find yourself right at home here.
This is the nation that, through its horsemanship, has produced some of the world's top polo players and polo ponies.
Even if you do not plan to ride yourself, many estancias will give you a gaucho display of horsemanship and cattle roping.
Then you will be treated to a barbecue or 'asado' to taste some of Argentina's world famous steaks, as well as some of their other traditional cuisine.
Frequently other activities are offered on these ranches, such as golf, tennis, hiking and swimming.
You should be able to see wonderful bird life on the rolling and unspoiled pampas.
Although people mostly go there for the gaucho experience, there are even some estancias positioned on or near rivers that offer white water rafting, and fishing.
