    • 1). Power off your laptop, unplug the power cord and disconnect the battery pack from the bottom of the computer.

    • 2). Remove all screws form the bezel (plastic frame), which surrounds the LCD screen. Use your fingers or the tip of your screwdriver to remove any covers on the screws.

    • 3). Pry the bezel off of the screen. Start at the corners and work your way along the sides until the bezel comes completely off. The rectangular screen inverter will now be visible near the screen. On most laptops it is mounted directly below the screen, but on some laptops it can be found on the side.

    • 4). Use your fingers to inspect the cables that plug in at either end of the inverter. One of these is a screen cable, and the other is a backlight cable. Use your fingers to secure them in their ports if they are loose. If this does not fix the problem, proceed to step 5.

    • 5). Remove all screws from the metal mounting brackets on either side of the screen.

    • 6). Tilt the screen forward to expose the screen ribbon cable, which connects at the back. Remove any tape covering the cable.

    • 7). Use your fingers to make sure the screen ribbon cable is plugged securely into the port at the back of the screen. This should fix any connection problem. Reverse the steps for screen reassembly.
