Lactose Intolerance? You Do Not Completely Give Up Dairy Products - 3 Dairy Foods You Can Eat

103 13
Dairy products are important for supporting bone strength.
If you are a lactose intolerant person and you think it is impossible for you to eat dairy products anymore I have some good news for you.
There are several dairy products you can still eat.
They are milk, yogurt and cheese.
Of course before making any substantial changes to your diet consult your doctor.
I am not a doctor, this is my opinion only.
In addition to those dairy products you can also eat canned salmon, sardines, tofu, rhubarb, green and leafy vegetables, almonds, and sesame seeds or Tahini which is sesame paste.
Here are the 3 dairy foods you can still eat regardless of your lactose intolerance:
  1. Cow's milk.
You do not have to completely eliminate cow's milk as you can still enjoy small amounts in your meal or cooking.
Be aware that cow's milk has 12g lactose per glass though.
And as I said before, your health professional can advise you on what is right for you.
If he/she says that small amounts are OK then why not enjoy your milk?
  2. Most cheeses.
We are talking here 40g pieces of cheese.
Unlike cow's milk with 12g lactose per glass, a 40g cheese block has only 1g lactose.
I love cheese and I have Crohn's disease, so that means that dairy products are rough on my digestion.
However, by not going overboard and mixing with other foods, you will obtain a healthy balanced diet.
  3. Yogurt.
Or any fermented milk products with live pro-biotic bacteria, are usually tolerable.
The good bacteria used to turn milk into yogurt have lactose activity.
Also - specially formulated low-lactose cow's milk are now available in supermarkets.
You can see that with a bit of effort and research you can still enjoy life regardless of your disability, whatever that maybe.
I have Crohn's other people cannot breakdown products containing lactose and others are asthmatic.
These are all disabilities in my eyes because it is a defect we have within us that prevents us doing something.
All in all if you wish to know more about this subject you may need to Google, read some books and of course get professional advice.
It is always worthwhile to keep an open mind as to what you can and cannot eat, do or unable to do.
Living by the rule that say "I cannot do this and I cannot eat that" would stop you from enjoying your life.
