Incredible Case Study - The Results From My Blogging Experiment
In this article I would like to go through a case study that I did with one of my blogs.
This is very important as I got rid of some myths about blogging and I wanted to do it so that I could understand how to blog more effectively.
I setup a blog using Blogger.
This was my very first blog so that I wanted to keep it very simple.
I did not want to mess with a sophisticated blog like Wordpress that requires a lot of technical knowledge for setup.
I registered a domain name and published my blog to my own web hosting account that the domain name points to.
So what I have done is that I have created a twenty page blog with valuable content.
This is not a lot, but I wanted to make sure that I was on the right track.
I knew that to get good search engine rankings I would need to get quality links to my website.
Initially I tried submitting to blog directories, but got very frustrated with the process.
So then I discovered blog carnivals.
The way that these work is that you submit your blog post to a specific carnival.
They offer various carnivals that cover many diverse topics.
Each blog will host a carnival which includes the blog posts from other authors.
What was really interesting with this method of promotion was that I was getting approximately 30 visitors a month to my blog with a good quality post.
Now if you were to frequently update your blog and submit your posts to the carnivals you would start receiving a lot of long term traffic.
I also submitted a few articles to some of the major article directories.
Just from the few links and the twenty pages of content that I have I am getting about 130 visitors a month from search engines.
Just imagine if I were to update the blog frequently and have thousands of pages of content I would start getting serious traffic.
