Cosmetic Surgery – Facial Improvements

Admit it, we all want to emulate that fresh faced, seemingly perfect look of the people we admire on our cinema and Television screens. Just how do they do it?

Usually behind the scenes you'll find a plastic surgeon involved and carrying out procedures such as; face lifts, eye bag removal, nose surgery and even ear correction surgery. The thing is, these sorts of procedures are no longer restricted to those in the limelight and with a larger than average wallet.

Let's take a look at what each one involves:

· Face lifts; these can make a person look that little bit more relaxed and fresher, taking years off your real age. During the surgical procedure an incision is made from the ear to the temple and the excess skin and underlying fat carefully removed along with a tightening of the facial muscles. There is usually no visible scarring with this procedure as the incisions are hidden in the hairline.

· Nose surgery (otherwise known as Rhinoplasty) is used to achieve better facial harmony which can be spoilt by sightly bumps and other misalignments.
This surgery and post operative recovery times have improved vastly in recent years. Bumps are corrected by removing cartilage and the nose can be widened or made narrower. The incisions are made inside the nose so there is no post operative visible scarring.

· Eye bag removal surgery (otherwise known as Blepharoplasty) can be effective for people of all ages as the reasons for needing this surgery are not just age related. It is possible to develop a larger than normal eye bag due to the layer of fat which is situated underneath it and this is something that can affect anyone at any time in their adult life. Usually a small incision is made below and to the side of the eye bag and the excess fat removed; the excess skin is then trimmed to fit the new contour. Bruising normally subsides within 2-3 weeks. The surgery can also be used to remove excess skin above the eye, also caused by excess fat.

· Ear correction surgery can help if you have prominent ears and should increase your confidence vastly. This procedure usually involves altering the shape of the cartilage that lies behind the ears to enable them to lie more closely to the side of the head. An incision is usually made behind the ears and the excess cartilage reshaped and removed. Sutures are made to hold everything in its new position and the whole process usually takes only 30 minutes.

Armed with this knowledge you should be able to make an informed decision on any procedures you are thinking about having.

If you are considering having cosmetic surgery, why not carry out research into the procedures before hand to allow you to make an informed decision. Plastic surgery has become much more advanced in recent years and you can rest assured you will be in the best hands if you use reputable firms and hospitals.
