This procedure usually involves altering the shape of the cartilage that lies behind the ears to enable them to lie more closely to the side of the head. An incision is usually made behind the ears and the excess cartilage reshaped and removed. Sutures are made to hold everything in its new position and the whole process usually takes only 30 minutes.
