Overall body exercises are the best exercises for overall body conditioning and fat burning because they incorporate multiple muscle groups.
Isolated muscle exercises such as the leg extension and leg curl may feel good but they are not as effective as doing dead lifts, burpees, lunges, or the jump squat.
You want to have your exercises to be highly functional meaning they serve some practical purpose or function.
Functional exercises require our muscles to coordinate with each other to perform a function or task.
The jump squat with weights is a good example of a highly functional exercise that can burn fat and elevate your physical fitness level.
How would you do a proper jump squat with weights? It is recommended that you start off with one dumb bell before you go to the advanced stages of using two dumb bells to do a jump squat with weights.
Get a single light dumb bell which can be between 5 pounds to 10 pounds.
Place the single dumb bell next to your left foot.
With your legs shoulder width apart and you are wearing proper shoes, pick up the weight with your left hand as you bend at your knees.
You do not want to bend at the waist.
You are doing jump squats which means you need to work on bending at your knees.
As you are placing the weight overhead, you want to jump in a fluid and smooth motion.
When you perform this squat, you are working on your core or abdominal muscles.
As you jump in the air with the dumb bell overhead, you go down in a single motion as you place the weight back next to your left feet.
Make sure when you land back on the ground that you keep your weight on your heels.
Do not let go of the dumb bell.
That is one repetition.
Do this about 15 repetitions on each side (both left and right side).
This is a great overall body conditioner and fat burner.
As you get stronger, you can do this squat with weights using two dumb bells.
The movement is the same except you will use two dumb bells.
When you are going up in the movement, you will exhale through your mouth.
When you are going down, you will inhale through your nose (or mouth- if it gets too difficult).
Add the jump squat with weights to your arsenal of total body exercises that will burn fat and get your body in shape.
As with any exercise, make sure you are physically capable of performing exercises by regularly seeing your physician.
