Good Carbs Vs Bad Carbs - What"s the Real Deal?

103 8
There is so much confusion about good carbs and bad carbs.
If people even know there is a difference, they don't know which fall into which category and therefore which they should be eating.
When you're making healthy eating choices you need to be well informed.
One of the biggest reasons why some people struggle to lose weight is that they are eating too much processed food.
Foods such as pasta, rice, bagels, bread, cereal, etc.
are processed refined carbohydrates.
It is very hard to lose weight when you are eating a lot of these foods.
These foods cause big blood sugar level swings.
A surge of insulin is produced which may cause the body to store fat.
Also eating too many carbohydrates increases your appetite and amount of cravings.
You have to be careful when reading food labels.
Some breads and cereals may claim to be whole grain but the most prominent ingredient is refined flour, which will surge your blood sugar just like white bread.
When you overeat refined carbs like this your body starts to resist the insulin which can lead some people to type 2 diabetes or insulin resistance.
Try looking at eating carbohydrates in a different way.
Instead of worrying about whether the grain is whole or refined, try to get your carbs from whole fruits, berries and vegetables.
Instead of pastas, rice and cereal, fill your plate with grass-fed meat and eggs, dairy and more vegetables.
If you have to have grains, focus on the bran and germ.
Use oat bran instead of oat meal - get the most nutrient dense part of the grain.
Replace the carbs with healthy fats such as avocados, guacamole, nuts and seeds.
Yams are a good choice for carbohydrates.
They are high in fiber and very dense in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
